Introduction :
The maestro turns 80 this April. But age hasn't blunted Pandit Ravi Shankar's instinct and passion for music as his recent Sitar recital in Thiruvananthpuram proved. The passing of years has not diminished the zeal and energy with which this Bharat ratna awardee first set about enlightening the world on Indian classical music.
Career :
As a 10 year old in Paris Shankar has been appalled when western classical musicians professed their ignorance of Indian music.
Review of life :
Shankar today lives in California with his second wife Sukanya and daughter Anoushka. On one occassion he said that,"I have not done even 10% of what I am capable of". And yet that 10% is more than what any musician in the past, present or future would be capable of achieving in a lifetime.
