Introduction :
On November 19,1997,Kalpana Chawlamade history by becoming the first Indian woman to go into space.Born in Haryana,Kalpana did her early education before going to US.

Career :
She took her master's degree in astrospace engineering at the University of Texas,and her Ph.D. at the University Colorado.The MCAT Institute in California hired her as a scientist to support research in powered lift at Nasa's Ames Research Centre.

Milestone :
In 93 she joined Overset Methods,a leading Silicon Valley company,as vice president and research scientist.A year later Nasa selected her for a space trip.Her 16 days space mission aimed at exploring the frontiers of microgravity.
