Wing Commander Allan Albert D'costa,in command of the 222 Squadron in the western front,led innumerable sorties into enemy territory throughout the duration of the 1971 indo-pak war.

In the war's early stages,he had 15 reconnaissance mission to Photograph strategic & well leading a reconnaissance sorties into Walton,he located a hitherio secret enemy radar unit.The same night,the Christian Mandi,striking three enemy tanks.He deatroyed several more tanks,two days later in an attack on dera Baba Nanak,even as heavy anti-aircraft fire shot down one of his bombers.The next day,he held a photo reconnaissance mission in Sulmanki & attacked & other installation.

Over the next 4 days,he flew alone into Pakistani territory gathering vital intelligence reports that greatly aided the Indain Army's ground operation. His innumerable reconnaissance mission,some unesorted,enthralled inspired his men. He was honoured with the Mahavir Chakra for his courage & gallantry.
